my amazing grandmother, blanche ovard, passed away yesterday. tomorrow would have been her 92nd birthday! she lived a good, long life and now is in a much better place with her husband, parents, and siblings. i can't imagine how happy she must be, and that helps to compensate for the loss we feel for her here on earth.
it's times like these when i am reminded how incredibly grateful i am for the gospel in my life. sometimes i wonder "why me? why am i blessed enough to have been born into the gospel and always had it to guide me, comfort me, and give me hope" i think that is what the gospel does, above all else it give us hope. hope that no matter what happens in this life, if we live worthy we can live with our heavenly father in eternal glory again one day.
my grandmother was an amazing person filled with love, kindness, patience, and an incredible spirit. a spirit that has now moved on. the last few years have been rough for her and it became increasingly apparent that she was ready to move on from this life and onto far greater things. i am filled with joy knowing that she is in the company of her loved ones looking down on us.
happy 92nd birthday tomorrow. love you grandma.

i'm a big kid now.
it's been a while since i've posted and i know my thousands of readers, or maybe...hundreds, more like fifty...okay, my mom has probably been distraught over my lack of blogging.
truth is, i haven't had much time since starting my big girljob...internship. basically it's the same thing except i pay them instead of them paying me. super fun. but actually, it is. i am loving seeing how all of my education is actually of use in the real world. who would have thought!?
i've already started assessing, charting, and counseling patients on my own {with supervision of the real dietitian} of course. but basically, i evaluate and counsel them and she just makes sure i'm not doing anythingcrazy too crazy. and i love it. so far i've just been in a few long term care/assisted living facilities. next week i start my rotations at the dialysis center. talk about terrifying, but i'm pretty excited. i'm sure i'll learn a ton there.
i even have a name tag. nothing makes you feel as official as a name tag.
other happenings. oh yeah, we went to lake powell. it was as amazing as always. tanner (cousin) came home from his mission. finally. and joined us at powell. best part of the trip was having him back...well that and our houseboat neighbors who let us borrow their wi-fi and put on a fabulous firework show every night. basically life is good.
i miss you powell....

missing something...
i'll be the first to admit that sometimes i complain about how long church is and getting bored. i know, i know...i'm repenting. but the past couple of weeks i've been traveling, etc. and haven't been able to go to church every week and i have noticed such a huge difference in my life that it actually kind of surprised me. it's just seemed like something has been missing and i haven't felt like the spirit has been as prevalent in my life. that just goes to show me...not complaining anymore. really though, it's been a good reminder of how important the little things are like just attending your meetings, reading your scriptures, praying, etc. etc. etc.
on that note. i've been listening to past conferences talks recently and have happened upon some phenomenal ones that i'd forgotten about. such as...
this talk is beyond amazing and has become one of my favorites. i probably listen to it at least once a week, just to remind myself of all the truths in it. listen to it if you haven't, or even if you have. i promise you won't be sorry.
the church is true and i love it.

the best part of the summer.
best part of summer: boating.
this past weekend matt, brenna, and tim came to visit.
we boated [of course]. bbq'd. ice cream potato-ed. and it was awesome.
because i suck at taking pictures {as in...i never do} i don't have many but here are a few snapshots of their water sport skills. which were pretty impressive.
all in all. great weekend.

let's get a little lost...
lost in chris young's deep brown eye's. please.
so this past weekend mick and i headed down to salt lake to see the one and only chris young/love of my life.
started the weekend out with a fantastic polyga-date {macall + matt + me = awesome}. macall and i were at kneaders enjoying a delicious dinner when we spotted an all-too-obviously awkward first date taking place only tables away. so naturally we decided the only thing to do would be to follow them on their date and enjoy the awkwardness with them. luckily when matt showed up to meet us he was just as excited about this amazing idea as we were. my guess...next up...mini golf. correct. so we followed.
creepy that we took pictures...? yes.
precious.
[if either member of this party somehow ever reads this blog for any reason. forgive us, i am ashamed of what we did. and i hope to two of you ended up getting hitched. best wishes.]
afterwards we tried to follow them to get what we assumed would be dessert, but i'm pretty sure they had started to catch on to us. and ditched. so we did the next best thing to stalking. frozen yogurt.
mic drew this amazing likeness of matt and i.
{the jury is still out on which picture i look worse in...}
thursday mick and i hit up city creek for someshopping window shopping. we are poor.
need this swimming suit...
didn't buy these pants. regret it every day.
found the place i belong. j biebs phone cover. that will happen soon.
friendship braclets. love you h&m.
that night. strawberry days rodeo with some of my most favorite people.
best friends.
i have the best sisters.
cutest couple. ever.
we struggle to be normal at the same time...or ever.
finally. saturday. chris young.
obviously we made shirts.
he winked at me. yes. it actually happened. ithink know i'm in love.
i just hope he realizes we are meant to be together. and soon.

home is wherever...oh just get on home already
...and six weeks later she is finally coming home.
macall (mick) has been in london on study abroad for the past six weeks, leaving me all alone here in good ol' boise. and i have been so sad and lonely without her.
as i've been living my exciting life here baking, watching hawaii five-o with my parents, and going on lots of fro yo friend dates trying to fill the void in my life that she has left...she has been living the dream in london. and italy. and france. etc. visiting museums, being sung to on gondola rides, and eating gelato. awesome.
i can't wait for her to be back here so that we can resume:
-wednesday sister date nights {ice cream + modern family + cottage cheese sandwiches + chick flicks = perfect date}
-watch the bachelorette {it's just not the same without her commentary}
-double slalom on our boating outings {skiing alone is just so boring...}
-summer bonfires, rodeos, bike rides, and other greatness
sissy, get your butt home already! one more day...
i just love her.
don't worry we'll be anxiously waiting at the airport tomorrow with lots of embarrassing signs...and possibly even t-shirts.

it may be love...
i may or may not be playing this song on repeat today.
itmay be is the most precious song ever.
can a beautiful man (josh turner perhaps...) please sing it to me?
"if i gave you my hand would you take it and make me the happiest man in the world?"
really? i think i'm in love.

a little late...
so it's a couple days late but happy mother's day to my amazing mother.
seriously though. she's kind of the best.
i probably wouldn't survive without her. she listens to me complain and worry and believes in me always, especially when i don't believe in myself. she most definitely wins the title of "world's greatest mom".
thanks mom for...
talking sense into me when i'm thinking crazy (often)
making me see the good in others
being the perfect example of service
being hilarious and making me laugh every day (always with you of course)
being an excellent seamstress so you can fix my clothes and i don't have to...
telling me i'm smart and wonderful (even if i tell you it doesn't count cuz you're my mom)
being the best example of a disciple of christ i can think of.
in a nutshell...you rock.
love you mommsy!
