all things powell, etc.

today i ran to wal-mart to grab a few things.  i made the mistake of going to the orem location and hello incoming freshman. the store was jam-packed with the little ones and their moms. carts everywhere were overflowing with new school supplies and apartment decor. now, i've been heard to say on more than one occasion that you couldn't pay me enough to repeat that era...the new freshman, totally lost, totally confused.  moving into a new apartment, walking around campus aimlessly wondering where in the world your next class is, first sunday in a ward where you can actually pay attention because there aren't little kids screaming all around you, and trying to keep up with everyone else in the social scene staying out till all hours of the night. BUT all of the sudden i found myself missing it.  i was actually envious of the youngsters with their moms filling their carts with everything they could possibly need plus more.  i thought back to that fateful wal-mart trip with my mom and freshman roommate brittany and being so excited for a new beginning.  i'm usually not a fan of change, but lately i find myself longing for a something new, a fresh start. yet, i still have two more years in this same town, same school, and probably even same apartment. not that i'm complaining. i have countless blessings, but sometimes find myself wishing for a new adventure.

in other news...
my family took our annual vacation to to lake powell a couple weeks ago.  it was amazing, as always.
martha and paige joined us halfway through the week as well, making it all the more fantastic.

my cousin tanner left for the MTC halfway through the week.  he'll be serving an LDS mission for the next two years in ecuador and even though we missed him...and his amazing song playlists he'll be a great missionary.
what a stud.

i do declare

i'm not ashamed to admit it. i love this show.

i just can't help it, it's so entertaining.  being a dietetics major, obviously i'm a fan of food. everything about it.

how this man has not yet had a heart attack is beyond me.  but i must say i'm more than impressed by his incredible ability to eat massive amounts of food...pretty much, i want to be him.

adam richman, you inspire me.
(minus the fact that he must have a heart attack coming his way very very soon)

this site also provides pleanty of laughs as well as bewilderment...

i like it, i love it

i'm in love. yes, in love with this man...

he may or may not have touched my hand many times on this magical night and when he looked me in the eye and sang "just to see you smile" i knew he felt it too.  so yes, this is the man for me (minus the whole faith hill thing, minor details)

don't we make a cute couple?
(ps notice how he saw that we were taking a picture and actually looked at and sang-slash-smiled for the camera?)

Lady A (only one of my most favoritest groups ever) opened for him and they were just as amazing as expected. love them.

i went to the concert with my roommate jen and her/our friend lacy and a few other friends. a big thanks to lacy for making all of our dreams come true that night and getting us such fabulous tickets.

this night just reminded me why i love country music so much...
don't be a hater.

and can i just say that though you didn't think it possible, tim mcgraw IS in fact even more attractive in person, yes, yes he is. not to mention that he sounds just as good live as in any and all of his recordings...sigh.

sunshine and summertime

apparently the only time i blog anymore is when i go home for a visit.

went home again this past weekend, thank you utah for celebrating pioneers and giving me a day off of work.

my friend martha came with me, which made the trip home all the more fun (and i think my family might like her more than me now). she fit right in, even looked like one of us...it's the fair skin and blonde hair.

we went boating...

it was martha's 2nd/3rd time wakeboarding and she's pretty much a pro already.
watch for her at the upcoming x games wakeboard competition

our new bff joel came with us and tried to share with us his wakeboarding expertise.

we went to the rodeo...and forgot to bring a camera, but it was as awesome as you are imagining it to be in your head right now. mutton busting, bull riding, the whole shebang.

i love going home. there's just something about home cooked meals, family, and a real house that you can't help but love...i mean really, don't we look happy?

basically a fun filled weekend, i wasn't ready to come back to provo. but alas, work was calling my name...

summer summer

what's not to love about summer?

i went home this past week for the 4th of july + a week of good times with the fam.

We biked the hiawatha trail in northern idaho.  A 15 mile ride each way with lots of long tunnels, the longest of which is 1 and 1/7 miles long.  We went with the silvester's (aka our favorite family friends + some of the cutest little kids ever) and had a great time.

We also hung out in coeurdalene for a few days and hit up some of the local joints around town including a most precious diner called the red light cafe.

We went on a short hike before heading off to the silverwood amusement park where we rode roller coaster after roller coaster and roasted in the hot summer sun.
i ♥ summer

the bad news

the bad news: i have to get my gums grafted and it's going to hurt. a lot...and probably leave a scar.

the worse news: i can't eat any apples for at least two weeks.

my life may be over.
